WILDFLOWER MEADOW PROJECT
HOBY ROAD, ASFORDBY
The Parish Council have identified a piece of land that could be used to create a breathing place. Breathing Places is a scheme started by the BBC for encouraging the creation of green spaces and wildlife habitats.
The Parish Council are heading up a steering group to pursue this project.
PROGRESS TO DATE
The wildflower meadow was officially opened today following the installation of the interpretation lecturn.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The Council have recently appointed James Gamble, a Director of Community Environmental Action Projects, to act as Project Manager for this project.
He has recently produced a working management plan for the site and he will shortly be meeting with members of the Steering Group.
FUNDING
The Council were successful in obtaining a grant of £5000 from Melton Borough Council and the Big Lottery Fund have advised the Council that it was successsful in securing a grant of £5000 towards the cost of the project.
